@journeymanjoly Hey Brent – I see you logging in every other day 🙂 – what#s up? Just checking in on the progress of the site? How is your book coming?
Hope all is well with you.
yeah just checking it out, im sure there are so many nuts and bolts to work out that noone sees, but know we have respect for the work they deserve.
i just picked up a second job to save for my next tour, and its a good thing ive developed the discipline i need to finish writing the book. im already into Saskatchewan now, just two more provinces, im half way there. should be another month and half before i can start editing it all. ill have it done by the time i leave in the spring though for sure. a nice parting gift for my parents.
thanks for the consideration toni i feel right at home here
by the way, i couldn’t help but notice the wordpress logo on the log in screen a while ago. is wordpress your parent website? if so, there should be some way to link my wordpress blog into here possibly?
ill talk to you later mang, peace and love
Thanks 🙂 – The whole site is based on Wordpress Multisite and some premium Plug-ins that cost money (every month) but make my life a lot easier, also my hosting is probably not the best possible (currently on shared hosting) as this site grows I will probably have to opt for a dedicated server to keep things run smoothly (like $200 a month LOL)…
My main issue at this moment is time, followed by poor internet connection here in the philippines.
I promise I will set aside at least 3 hours a day when I am back home in march to move this project in the direction it deserves.
About your Blog – sure I have no problem with links to related sites (a link back is appreciated though) but what would be great is if you use worldpedal for your blog instead of the wordpress option…
you can of course keep even both (gives you double exposure)…
you could have something like brent.worldpedal.com as your homepage, right now my friend Pako is the only using it http://bicioenruta.worldpedal.com/ because I disabled automatic blog set up because it attracted too many spammers – please disregard the mess on Pako’s Blog – I am going to fix the individual blogs as well when time allows… I have a big collection of professional wordpress templates I paid for and I am always ready to listen if you need things a certain way… actually I want you to have exactly the kind of blog you ever dreamt of and I strongly believe you can have it here LOL 😉
Good news on the book!! Do you have a publisher yet or any idea how you’ll go about once you’re ready? I have another ambitious goal for this site I want to publish bicycle touring books as ebooks first and then maybe move into real printing if I find the right sponsors/investors/interest…
I am planning to start to write a simple cycle touring guide book on my upcoming short trip next week and see what it takes to do this and then animate other members to do the same, I want people that join this site/project to make some extra money for their travels by supplying information that others need – win-win for everyone is what I am after 🙂
i’d feel much more important as one of the first pioneer blogists on worldpedal, than one of the 22 thousand users of crazyguyonabike. i would be honoured to journal through you fresh website and get things moving with the web’s most powerful tool: CONTENT! lol. already I am impressed by the layout and the features. im leaving sometime in april or may, and will need a new blog for my occasional happening-by library journal entries. journeymanjoly.worldpedal.com sure has a nice ring to it! thankyou for the hospitality and i look forward to making any contributions you would accept.
peace and love – brent
Brent, thanks 🙂 – looking forward for your powerful cycle touring content!
If that is your final choice I will set up journeymanjoly.worldpedal.com for you when I got your confirmation…
I hope as soon as I start “marketing” worldpedal we will have similar success in a few years (right now no-one really knows about this site – apart from people finding us accidentally in the search engines)…
hey man, ive been doing some thinking about the blog title, maybe hempbike.worldpedal.com, or hempcycle.worldpedal.com, i’m not sure yet. im wrapping my trek 520 with hemp twine. its making for a very natural look and is covering all the branding on the frame, ill let you know when ive decided, but a second opiniononthe name would be nice. ive finished typing my journal, and am currently editting my work, i hope to send you an ebook to post within a week. thanks for your encouragement toni, couldn’t have done it without you
LOL, you’re probably the first cycle tourist in the world that uses a hemp wrapped bmx to travel 😀
Good news on the journal and you are welcome!!
I like hempcycle better…
Here are some more ideas :D:
Potpedal , WeedSpeed, SpliffRider, JointJoliCruiser
I’ll let you know if I have more ideas, btw are you looking for a more serious name??
I mean you’ll be an author soon and not sure what will be your target market of readers?? hehe…
LMAO those are some classic names bro
i don’t want to give off the wrong impression, my audience is everyone, stoners and sobers alike. i want to bridge the gap between the two.
btw im retiring my haro f4 bmx for the next tour, i have an orange trek 520 now. i like hempbike so far, just because of the simplicity. but its hard to speak it, with the p and b beside eachother. hit me with more names man ive been bawling with those ones! im gonna get back to work now, half done editting! peace bro
hehe, I do something similar for a living – branding stuff in a way LOL
hmmm in between names, not my speciality 😀
I agree about the pb issue, looks bad and its hard to pronounce…
I’ll try, how about: HempRaiser, SmokeySaddle oh and here is a pretty bad one Pedalfile 😀
oh gosh I think I can’t come up with something semi serious right now… maybe later
